I've been building in crypto since 2017 and tech since 2007. I founded 4 VC-backed startups with 2 exits, 1 failure, and 1 ongoing. Previously, I was a VC at FJLabs and Bessemer and hold a Harvard MBA and BA.
My expertise is DeFi, DAOs, and NFTs. Currently, I lead Shipyardsoftware.org, which developed Clipper DEX, and MIBOND (tokenized sovereign bond). I serve on the boards of a US stablecoin issuer, MIDAO.org (incorporates DAOs), and the 501(c)3 nonprofit Foundation for Art and Blockchain. I'm also a Forbes contributor.
I believe history will view crypto like it does the Gutenberg bible. I work in crypto because it feels like a privilege to help improve the early printing press.
Some career highlights are selling the most expensive CryptoKitty ever in a charity auction I organized, publishing a WSJ OpEd on DeFi, and measurably increasing Marshall Islands GDP by writing DAO laws and creating a DAO corporate registry for them.
Some personal highlights are convincing my wife to marry me and being a part of my three siblings’ lives.
Along the way, I’ve learned a few things. In particular, I’ve failed a lot, and learned it’s like ripping off a bandaid: terrifying beforehand, but relieving after. Friends and business partners remain supportive, and new opportunities arise. Yet, it’s still scary each time. I’ve also learned that the unknown is often confused with the risky. The former is anxiety-provoking, but the latter is what matters. I hope to learn more as my journey continues.
